It’s a good time to like hymns.
Man Of Sorrows Glorious King is an album of “New hymn re-arrangements and original songs for corporate worship. Rich texts centered around the Gospel, memorable melodies and fresh musical settings.”
The album is the work of David Potter and was recently reviewed on Bob Kauflin’s blog, Worship Matters.
I found myself liking Potters new tunes for ‘All Creatures Of Our God And King’ and Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah.’ They suit the lyrics and groove along nicely. I don’t think they’ll find a place at mgpc, but for groups committed to contemporary sounds, and who don’t know the originals, they could make the wonderful words of these songs accessible. The whole album is a good listen.

If you’d like to have a listen here’s the album tracks from Potter’s bandcamp webpage. The physical CD/download costs US$14 and the download costs US$12. Kauflin’s review</strong> also includes a code that presently allows a 20% discount on either of these.
